A Few Words

Who We Are

Founded in 1909 in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the country, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation. 
 
For more than a century the NAACP has worked to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

NAACP GAME CHANGERS

There are six Game Changers that address the major areas of inequality facing African Americans that are the focus of the NAACP’s work:

  1. Economic Sustainability
  2. Education
  3. Health
  4. Public Safety and Criminal Justice
  5. Voting Rights and Political Representation
  6. Expanding Youth and Young Adult Engagement

Mission Statement

Mission: Our mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.

Vision Statement

Vision: We envision an inclusive community rooted in liberation where all persons can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination.

SUPPORTING BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES

With a goal of  building Black wealth in our community, the Bartholomew Columbus NAACP Branch has developed the TIME Program, a partnership with Cummins Inc. and the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce.

LOCAL LEADERSHIP

The NAACP Bartholomew/Columbus Branch 3071 Executive Committee is made up of a diverse group of people who are passionate about political, educational, social, and economic equality.
