NAACP Freedom Fund Gala
January 25, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm EST
Freedom Fund Gala
1939, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund was established as an independent legal arm of the organization and was instrumental in litigating the 1954 Supreme Court Case Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka, in the fight for equality in public schools. This landmark decision ousted the hypocrisy of separate but equal policies in public education. Annually NAACP branches in the United States host Freedom Fund banquets to raise money to support the National Branch of the NAACP. Freedom Fund dinners are an avenue not only to raise required to continue the fight but also an opportunity to remind the communities they serve that the NAACP is still relevant.
The NAACP initiatives are needed as much now as they ever were. Every day we focus on these key areas: voter education and empowerment, criminal justice reform, public safety, racial health disparities, and economic inclusion, among other aspects. We couldn’t do this work, and accomplish our goals, without the generous support of our community, and monetary support of our mission by our allies and partners.
Join us on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Gather Columbus, located at 2508 25th Street, Suite B, Columbus, IN, for a beautiful evening of community awards, food, music, and dancing. Our theme is #getuncomfortable; we are intentionally creating safe spaces for uncomfortable conversation as we continue the fight. We know that when we fight, we win.
